My Snack for Today


Tomatoes from the two plants I have in the front yard. I planted the bushes in July and they have tons of green tomatoes on them but have taken forever to ripen. I enjoyed my first real crop today.

Fried green tomatoes and shrimp romalaude.
Dip your sliced tomatoes in egg and lightly dust with flour, saute in butter and olive oil til golden.
Boil shrimp and toss the cleaned bodies in romalaude sauce.
eat them.

I have tomatoes this time in year (even in chilly Boston) because I planted in the middle of July. Just two itty bitty tomato plants from Home Depot of all places. They've been taunting me with a bunch of green tomatoes for the past two months and are finally beginning to ripen. I'm not sure how many more I will get so I may have to use your green tomato recipe. My tomatoes are tiny though, since they're both different types of grape tomatoes.
