Who doesn't get annoyed by pop-up ads? I definitely don't notice them most of the time, unless they're the type that pop up when you're trying to read an article, as in, you click on the article link, a pass-through screen pops up with an ad, and you click on a button in the corner that says "continue to the article."
Which is why I was surprised when I actually stopped to look at this ad while trying to read an article on the NY Times:
It's a simple concept but very eye-catching. I may not agree with J Crew charging an arm and a leg for kids clothes (and adult clothes!) but kudos to them for an interesting image.
