Belated Birthday Celebration

Cabot's never fails to deliver.

Andrew dove into his sundae - sad to say, I can't remember which one it was but it was definitely loaded with plenty of fudge:

I went with the Mounds Delight sundae (Mounds ice cream, mellowcream fudge, creamy coconut sauce and whipped cream):

Andrew custom designed his own sundae with coffee almond fudge ice cream, hot mellowcream fudge, whipped cream and cookie dough pieces:

And for the birthday boy, a Dusty Road Sundae (French vanilla ice cream, bittersweet fudge, malt powder, whipped cream and topped with crushed whoppers):

Mint Chip Smacker

My contribution to the anniversary festivities, as usual, was an ice cream cake from Cabot's - As Andrew likes chocolate cake, and we both like mint chocolate chip ice cream, I picked a cake from their Candy Shoppe line:
The cake looked very impressive - luckily, I remembered to put it out to thaw while I was making dinner:

So it was easy to cut into and enjoy immediately when we were ready for dessert! And what the label doesn't mention is that there are little mint chocolate cups swirled throughout the ice cream as well:

There's Always Room For Ice Cream

...especially when it's from Cabot's!

Andrew and I stopped in for a sweet fix- I got the Fudge-Anna on the right with Cherry Vanilla ice cream, banana wheels, hot fudge and whipped cream. Andrew went with the Coffee Toffee Crunch sundae with coffee ice cream, heath bar pieces, hot fudge, marshmallow and whipped cream:

Andrew was patient enough to let me take a picture before he dove in:

Did I mention that his sundae had hot fudge in it?

Late, Late Breakfast at Cabots

After our 6+ mile walk around Newton, Andrew and I were starving!
After a failed attempt to drop off my car for an oil change (dealership closed at noon), we decided to comfort ourselves with a late lunch at Cabot's as it was around 1:30 pm at this point.
As we always do (no matter what time of day), we started off with an appetizer of onion pedals (that's how they spell it) - as you can see, Andrew approves:
We both ended up ordering off the breakfast specials menu, which turned our late lunch into brunch.
Andrew went with a Crab Cakes Benedict accompanied by Cabot's version of breakfast potatoes, which are more like wide, flat french fries:

I got the heavenly Raspberry French Toast which had fresh raspberries and sweetened cream cheese sandwiched between layers of golden french toast, topped with raspberry syrup and whipped cream - yummy!
Cabot's never fails to satisfy!

Cabot's Ice Cream For Dessert

As I mentioned in my last post, a big dinner at Apgujung didn't stop us from hitting Cabot's for dessert.

Cabot's is a family-owned restaurant that reminds me of a diner. Andrew calls it a better Friendly's. I love it because not only does it feature homemade ice cream and ice cream cakes, it has a massive six page ice cream menu featuring all sorts of decadent ice cream parfaits, sundaes and desserts. Take a look for yourself. There's so much to choose from that it makes it extremely hard to make your mind up about what you want!

Amanda showed the most restraint out of the group and went with scoops of pistachio ice cream. Charlotte went with some sort of Coffee Toffee Sundae, with scoops of coffee ice cream topped with Cabot's famous hot fudge, toffee bits and whipped cream:

Andrew and Tom went with the Brazilian Combo, which consisted of coffee, maple nut, butter pecan and vanilla ice cream, topped with cold chocolate, coffee, rum flavored english toffee (like a yummy butterscotch) and maple nut toppings, whipped cream and a cherry. What they didn't realize when they ordered it was that the Brazilian Combo would come in a dish the size of a small boat!

Andrew shows his approval for the Brazilian Combo.

I had a hard time making up my mind and in the end, went with the classic Fudge-Anna sundae: Banana wheels, vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry. I'm the type of person that never gets hot fudge on their sundaes so the fact that I love Cabot's hot fudge shows you how good it is - you can tell from the pictures how thick it is, perfect for scraping off the sides of the glass with your spoon:

My Surprise For Andrew

After we went out to dinner with my Uncle Rich and my cousin Andrew, we headed back to my place to feast on the Cabot's ice cream cake I ordered as surprise for Andrew. Cabot's is this great family-owned restaurant in Newton that has homemade ice cream and the biggest dessert menu you've ever seen. This was the first time I had tried one of their cakes and I have to say that it was pretty tasty.

I went with gold cake (my favorite), Heath Bar ice cream (Andrew's favorite), chocolate cookie crumbles in between layers and whipped cream frosting.

Andrew seemed to enjoy it, although I did catch him off guard with my camera.
