We've Been Blogged!

Haha, I just happened to look at our photographer's blog today and saw this.

Yay for engagement photos, although I think my face looks awfully scrunched up in the first shot.

Needless to say, we are so excited to have Heather and Jesse shoot our wedding in October!

Meet Our Wedding Photographer

OK, it has been a crummy couple of days, including an incident with me running over a neighbor’s light post (don’t even ask) and some kid throwing an acorn at my car on the drive in to work this morning. It’s an out of season reference, but I’m feeling as grumpy as the Grinch today.

But on a much happier note, I’m happy to announce that Andrew and I have finally selected our wedding photographer – and by photographer, we mean a husband and wife team!
Ciras Photography first caught our eye when we were researching our wedding venues. They had shot a wedding at the Warren Center earlier this year and we liked their photography style as well as – and this is the communications person in me speaking – the way they described the photos. I know that’s not important in terms of how well photography comes out, but it does give you a sense for the photographer’s personality and overall style.

Andrew and I met with Heather and Jesse at their studio a few weeks ago and not only were we impressed with their portfolio, we immediately clicked with them. I think they understand our personalities and how Andrew and I are looking to be covered for the day of the wedding. Your wedding photographer is going to be with you every step of the day so I think it’s extremely important (and I know this is a no-brainer) to have a rapport with your photographer. We’re excited at the prospect of having Heather follow me and Jesse follow Andrew in terms of wedding preparations the day-of, and then merge at the ceremony to capture two points of view for the rest of the day.

Anyway, enough with the descriptive words. I invite you to check out Ciras Photography’s work on their website and their blog!

I Spoke Too Soon...

As I had mentioned in a previous post, Andrew and I thought we were close to signing with a photographer. As we get further involved with this whole wedding process, I'm getting too eager to share details before we get things nailed down.

As it turns out, we decided we were rushing into things and didn't like some of things that were mentioned in our correspondence with the photographer. So the search is back on and I think we'll be better off because of it. In fact, I think we'll be looking for a package where we get two photographers to cover the event. It'll be more expensive but I think we'll be happier in the end. You'll be the first to hear once we've actually signed a contract (I've learned my lesson!)

One More Check - Wedding Photographer

In the terms of the Boston Knot wedding board, "a check" doesn't refer to the act of writing out a check for a deposit, but to the fact that you have accomplished another to-do on the massive lists that the Knot sends you at each mile marker.

Perhaps I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but Andrew and I are thisclose to booking our wedding photographer. I just hit "send" on an email letting our photographer know about our decision and I anticipate getting a contract tomorrow to sign.

To avoid jinxing this, I'm not going to reveal the photographer's name until i's are dotted and the t's are crossed but here's a sneak peek at two of my favorite pictures by him (I promise to come back and give him the photo credit that he deserves):

(Pictures removed)

He's an up and coming photographer and Andrew and I chose him 1) incredible packages and prices, including rights to our photos 2) glowing reviews from the Boston Knotties 3) $100 off promotion code - this wasn't really a reason but it definitely made it easier to make a decision.
Next big decision we want to get settled is the DJ!
