Part 2 - Patriot Place

With three hours until the start of the reception, and knowing that Raffael's was off Route 1 in Walpole, we decided to head to Patriot Place.

For those who don't know, Patriot Place is this mega shopping area that the Kraft family built right next to Gillette Stadium - this is a view of the stadium through the car window:

Patriot Place was not what I expected - I thought it would be one large complex of buildings, kind of like a mall - instead, it was mostly an outdoor shopping area:

Two other things that I didn't like and found confusing - Patriot Place is actually a string of three large shopping areas - an Outdoors-themed section (skipped that), a section that reminded me of strip mall with stores like the Christmas Tree Shop, Circuit City (closed), Linens 'n Things (closed), and finally, the section we were looking for with more restaurants and shops. However, most of these stores face the sidewalk section in the center, making it hard to see from the parking lot exactly what you're looking for.

On a positive note, we ended up at an Italian upscale pizza place called Tavolino, which was very good.

Andrew, Amanda and I mug for the camera at Tavolino:

We spent the next 2.5 hours warm and cozy inside, enjoying drinks such as the Siena Sparkler (Stoli Strawberry, Chambord, Cranberry Juice & Citrus Juices and Champagne). Half the drink was served on the side on ice, so your drink would always stay ice cold:

Their Calamari appetizer was delicious and so were the two pizzas we split as appetizers: the House Pizza which had, from what I can remember, Arugula, bacon, Gorgonzola cheese and candied walnuts and a Portobella mushroom and tomato pizza.

They were too good to resist so I have to admit, we were still stuffed once we left to head over to the wedding reception.

As we were leaving, I made the vow that we would come back to try some more of the restaurants as well as the huge movie theatre we passed.
